The Acqua Brevetti MiniDUE ¾″ Liquid Water Softener is a compact volumetric proportional mechanical dosing pump water softening system designed to fit onto ¾″' (22mm copper or speedfit) pipes. The system simply fits onto the rising main pipe or any pipe supplying a particular device, such as a boiler.
The MiniDUE adds the precise dosage of AcquaSIL 2/15® Liquid to water. AcquaSIL is a 100% safe, food grade polyphosphate used specifically for the treatment of drinking water. MiniDUE provides limescale prevention and corrosion prevention within the systems such as boilers, heaters, showers, taps, radiators, coffee machines, all plumbing fixtures and so on.
The MineDUE is a great alternative to a water softener due to it being very easy to install and to maintain as replacing the pouches is very simple and quick. The system takes up very little space compared to a traditional softener and the cost of maintenance is lower too.
The MiniDue is an eco-friendly alternative to a water softener as no water is wasted; as softeners uses thousands of litres every month to regenerate the resin - there is no need with this innovative and space saving device. It also uses no electricity and overall the system is a great innovation in the water treatment industry.
MiniDUE is a self-priming mechanical volumetric pump that is operated by a turbine which in turn transmits the movement to a special cam shaft that enables the liquid to rise from the refil pouch to the injection valve, where it is injected a small amount of AcquaSIL 2/15® Liquid into the water as it passes through the pipe. The liquid comes in pouches (sold in 250gram and 1000gram variants) that clip onto the system, which makes changing them very easy. The system comes with a remote installation kit, a 250gram refill, an installation manual and a warranty form.
MiniDUE is available as standard with ¾″ Male connections.and can be installed on a horizontal or vertical pipe by simply adjusting the orientation of the connection block. For whole house protection you can use our larger refill pouch of 1000gram which provides up to 44 cubic meters of dosage (44,000 litres) from a single pouch.
Because MiniDUE uses a liquid solution we guarantee a sludge free operation. MiniDUE is fully compliant with European Approval EU 98/83/CE for use with drinking water. and is approved by the Italian water quality approval board under DM, no. 174, 06.04.04. The Use of AcquaSIL and specifically the use of Polyphosphates is covered by the standard UNI 8065, part 5.4.1 which indicates the use of polyphosphates for the treatment of scale deposits and corrosion.
Totally mechanically operated, no power required.

What is the advantage of MiniDUE?
MiniDUE is a patented device which exclusively uses a liquid 100% food grade polyphosphate designed to prevent limescale and also over time provide a de-scaling action for already encrusted surfaces.Because MiniDUE uses a liquid it 100% guarantees no sludge build up or clogging often found when using granules or powder. MiniDUE is very compact and requires no power supply. MiniDUE uses vacuum packed refill pouches which use a simple twist bayonet style fitting. Our largest refill pouch of 1000gram will provide up to 42 cubic meters of dosage, typically up to 1 years supply in a typical household.
Do I need a separate (non-treated) drinking supply?
No. this is only required when a water softener is installed which use salts. Or if other dosing systems are installed which cannot guarantee the dosage amount. MiniDUE provides 100% accurate, metered dosage of food grade polyphosphate liquid solution with is 100% safe for drinkable water
What is AcquaSIL?
AcquaSIL is our liquid polyphosphate anti limescale solution used exclusively in the MiniDUE to prevent limescale and corrosion. It is a 100% food grade liquid solution which allows a guaranteed metered dosage and delivers 100% drinkable water whilst stopping limescale build up. Polyphosphates have for years been one of the only trusted ways in which to treat and prevent limescale build up. In fact Polyphosphate is often found in many foods currently available.
What does AcquaSIL do to the water?
AcquaSIL , when released in an accurate measured dosage into the water effectively coats the mineral ions preventing them from forming on surfaces and allowing them to travel through the system. The systems has no effect of the soap effect of the water, like a salt based system does.
Will MiniDUE protect my boiler?
MiniDUE has been designed to be installed on the mains water feed directly into the boiler to provide 100% protection against limescale build up. MiniDUE also provides corrosion protection within the central heating boiler. As MiniDUE exclusively uses a liquid to provide protection, MiniDUE guarantees that no sludge or residue build up will occur thus ensuring your boiler operates at maximum efficiency. The Minidue is designed to work with water temperature of 60-65°C so is suitable for use with any domestic boiler system including Megaflow. The liquid loses its efficacy above stored water temperatures of 65°C.
Is AcquaSIL safe?
Yes. AcquaSIL and polyphosphates are classed as a ‘food grade’ additive which conform to European Standards EN1208 and World Health Organisation standards as a safe additive to drinking water.
Does it smell?
No. AcquaSIL is odourless.
Can I taste AcquaSIL?
No. AcquaSIL is a tasteless liquid.
Will it discolour my clothes?
No. AcquaSIL will not affect fabrics or finished surfaces.
The fitter was great - very efficient. So far so good.
We have used salt-based softeners for some years, have an indirect cylinder and a condensing boiler. With this set-up, scale would traditionally be an issue in the immersion cylinder, washing machine and be obvious at taps and in the shower cubicle. It's better than nothing and what forms in the shower cubicle and on taps is easier to clean than full-blown calcium deposits. Without any additional water filter, the kettle produces a very ugly cup of tea and the kettle needs to be "descaled" to remove the milky-white deposits. Once the kitchen is rebuilt I suspect we will remove this product and revert to a salt based softener.
Product quality would be 5 if the "pump" had mounting lugs.
I can't believe I did not do this sooner - the water in our home feels so smooth and in 1 month there is zero limescale build-up around our shower heads and taps. It is so compact and easy to manage.
Noticed a significantly difference almost immediately.
Have recommended to several friends who have subsequently purchased with positive results.
The plumber who installed the system was previously unaware of the product and is now proposing it to some of his customers based on my experience.
He has I also had interest from some of his business customers.
Given the simplicity of the system and the effectiveness, I have no problem in recommending this product based on the performance so far.
Con: We are in a hard water area and in the 4 months of use have only seen a limited reduction in limescale build up. However still enough limescale in the water to notice a slow build up of deposits on the taps which is not we expected from this product.
Pro: Water is softer than in the past and not had build up of brown staining from the water which is a classic hard water symptom.
Do not want to use salt based softeners and will seek advice from the manufacturers if this does not improve within the year
Osmio reply: Hello "Hard Water user" - the system is very effective but the flow rate miht be the issue here. Have you checked the flow rate has not exceeded the maximum 30 LPM?
lovely compact unit so far so good early days yet , will review in a few months.
Has only been fitted for a month but so far very impressed. Had a space issue and couldn't fit in a standard salt softener but at this price thought it was worth a try. Takes up very little space in the cupboard. We're already noticing a huge improvement in limescale. We live in a very hard water area. My hands have suffered for years becoming very dry and cracking open easily. My hands are now almost completely smooth. I'm very happy with this!
So glad we went for this instead of a salt softener. Works perfectly and very easy to maintain.
Having swapped out my water softener for the liquid softener, I was not quite expecting it to work as well but low and behold its fantastic. Its been in place for just over 1 month now and no limescale anywhere and water feels soft like it did before. The space saving we have is great and I'm very pleased to be using the small liquid pouches rather than the big heavy salt bags. What a fantastic little invention!
