If you have a hardness level over 250 Calcium Carbonate then you may need to change the carbon block and membrane more frequently than every 6 months. The unit is designed to shut off if there is blockage in the membrane or prefilters. As the system recirculates the rejected water from the membrane, the TDS level continually rises of the water entering the membrane filter. Therefore, for those with water of higher TDS, more frequent carbon block and membrane changes are likely. It is recommended to have at least a spare carbon filter and membrane on hand with the unit at all times.
Filter Stages:
1 - Quick-Change Sediment Filter 5μm: removes coarse particles, e.g. Sand, rust, chlorine, lime
2 - Quick-Change 1 mic Composite Carbon filter: removes chlorine and organic impurities, helps to inhibit limescale
3 - Quick-Change Membrane 50GPD: removes all pollutants and flavours to almost 100%
4 - Quick-Change Insertion Filters: Hygiene After-filter antibacterial: removes 99% of the bacteria and viruses and improves the taste
How to recycle and dispose of Osmio Zero water filters
Quick-Change activated carbon filter and Quick-Change membrane 50GPD filter: these two filters can be placed in plastics recycling. However, the bottom of the filters will first need to be cut open using a hacksaw. The carbon and membrane elements can then be removed and thrown into the bin before placing the filters in recycling.
Quick-Change Sediment filter: This can simply be placed into the plastics recycling.
Quick-Change Insertion filter: This filter should again be cut in half and the contents emptied out into the bin before recycling the plastic exterior.

Product Questions
We have an Osmio0 reverse osmosis machine. The red light of maintenance is now always on and the engine does not stop (you can hear its sound for very long time).
Is there anything that we can do to fix that?
Thank you for your help.
Mercedes
- Dispense all water from the system (1 x long press or 3 short presses) - the filtering light will come on
- time how long it takes for the filtering light to go off.
- if your filtering take less than 13 min and filters were changed during last 6 months - reset the maintenance light as per manual 5.2.3
- If your filters were not changed during last 6 months - change filters, then do a reset
- or filtering takes over 13 minutes - get in touch with customer service team info@osmiowater.co.uk
Q2 - Should the filters be replaced every 6 months even if the "maintenance" light has not come on? (in my case the light has come on only after 1 year. Mine is a single person household so the usage of the Osmio Zero is lower than that of a household with more people.)
Q3 - Can Osmio Zero be used with the "maintenance" light on for 2-3 weeks? Or is it necessary to change the filters right away? The filter is dispensing water without any issues. And when measured with a TDS meter it shows a reading of ~80 when usually it is ~50 so it still seems to be working well.
Thank you.
Q2: Yes we recommend everyone to change the filters every 6 months, but if the system is used in soft water areas with a lower TDS then the membrane itself can last longer. TDS only measures electrical conductivity not gasses, so bare in mind that carbon absorbs gasses like a sponge, and there is no way to detect when that capacity is full, so its better to implement a planned changing routine every 6 months.
Q3: It depends for what reason the light is on, for example could be because it was never reset. If you reset and it comes back on right away or soon after, it means it needs attention, so filter changing and descaling.
Many thanks
Chloe
