The Osmio 2.5 x 10 GAC & De-Alk Filter incorporates granular activated carbon (GAC) which is combined with De-alk resin (Purolite C107E). The filter is effective against chlorine, taste and odour, heavy metals e.g. lead, and will also tackle hard water, which is seen as limescale in kettles and as an unsightly scum on the surface of hot drinks. Water hardness varies greatly depending upon location, so the filter will need to be replaced at 3 - 6 monthly intervals or longer all of which entirely depends on the hardness of your water and the amount you use.
Usual moisture retention level for resin 53-58%, with some surface moisture. Condensation inside the bag is normal - filters should be stored and used as normal.
Filter packaging also can contain gas (CO2) which appears from reaction between carbon and resin. Filters are safe to store and use as usual.

You can recycle parts of the filter if you can safely deconstruct it.
To recycle -
remove polypropylene mesh (cut with a Stanley knife and unwrap) - and gaskets - these should be placed in general waste
remove green caps (these can be broken off with screwdriver in or chisel and hammer) - these can go in plastic recycling
carbon can be crashed (use safety glasses) and placed in flower beds to improve drainage, or disposed in garden waste
