The Coldstream CF108W is a high performing ceramic cartridge that is capable of fluoride removal as well as chlorine, heavy metals and bacteria and cysts, making it the most powerful ceramic cartridge currently on the market. This filter can be a direct replacement for any 2.5 x 10 Inch cartridge and comes with rubber washer rings to ensure it will fit any housing

Filter 2:

Osmio Chlorine and Limescale filter - changed every 3-6 months (dependent on hardness)

The Osmio 2.5 x 10 Osmio Chlorine and Limescale filter incorporates granular activated carbon (GAC) which is combined with De-alk resin. The filter is effective against chlorine, taste, and odour, heavy metals e.g. lead, and will also tackle hard water, which is seen as limescale in kettles and as an unsightly scum on the surface of hot drinks. Water hardness varies greatly depending upon location, so the filter will need to be replaced at 3 - 6 monthly intervals or longer all of which entirely depend on the hardness of your water and the amount you use.

Disposing of used filters

Coldstream filter: The filter would need to be smashed the ceramic and media inside should go to rubbish and the plastic ends can be recycled as plastic. Some people use the media and ceramic to compost but I don't because they can have pharmaceutical and hormone traces and I grow food so I would not want that. For the media, it would be best to send that stuff to the landfill.

Osmio Chlorine and Limescale Filter: Unscrew the cap end(s) and empty out the media into normal rubbish. The plastic parts can be put in recycling so long as your council accepts plastics recycling, or if not then at a council recycling place along with the plastic parts from the Coldstream filter.
