Osmio 4.5 x 20 Inch KDF and GAC Process Media Filter Cartridge

The Osmio KDF/GAC Water Filter is a standard 4.5" x 20" Inch water filter cartridge containing Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and KDF Process Media. KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) media when combined with carbon is known to kill algae and fungi, control bacteria growth, reduce chlorine, pesticides, organic matter, rust, unpleasant taste and odour, hydrogen sulphide, iron, lead, nickel, chromium, cadmium, calcium, mercury and other organic compounds.  The reduction rate is dependent on the particular impurity level in the incoming water and the flow rate.

The filter is ideal for situations where you need a higher flow rate or have very low water pressure problems.

These filters will fit all standard 4.5 x 20" filter housings and are recommended for whole house water filtration systems as they can last up to 5 times longer than standard carbon block filters. Filter Life: Approximately 12-18 months or 200,000 litres.

In DepthThis Osmio KDF/GAC Water Filter replacement cartridge primarily reduces the bad taste and odours of chlorine and other chemicals in the water. It is a multi-purpose water filter cartridge that uses a combination of bacteriostatic KDF-55 filter media plus coconut shell granular activated carbon (GAC) to reduce heavy metals such as aluminum, arsenic, mercury, cadmium, copper, iron, lead, and other water-soluble heavy metals as well as particulates like sediment, dirt, rust, sand, silt, scale, bacteria, algae, VOCs, THMs, and more.

Please check the filter for any damage or cracks before installation. Ensure the water is flushed through for 5 minutes to clear any loose particles and carbon fines. Do not use water which is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality. Use in cold water applications only. It contains NSF Certified KDF and coconut-based granular activated carbon.
Assembled in the United Kingdom.

Operating Parameters:
Maximum Incoming Pressure 6 bar. If the pressure is exceeded, please install a pressure reducing valve. Temp. Range: 40 - 100 F . Flow Rate: 30 LPM for best performance max. 70 LPM. Filter Life: Between 12 to 18 months, or 100 000 to 150 000 litres depending on usage and local water quality.

According to http://www.kdfft.com/pdfs/kdf55_85Sheet.pdf the KDF must be periodically backwashed. Do you have any concerns that a simple filter does not do this?
Question by: Clive on 27 Mar 2021, 09:26
The backwash is required if KDF it's being used for hydrogen sulfide or iron reduction, which we don't. It's used in our filters for heavy metals and bacteria control.
