Turbidity Treatment Water Filters

Turbidity is a key measurement of water quality and is generally known as the cloudiness or muddiness created by stirring up sediment or having foreign particles suspended in water. Turbidity issues can sometimes be inconsistent and become more of a problem during wet seasons due to natural peat run off.  Turbidity can be caused by many sources including particles and sediments, peat, phytoplankton, algae and urban runoff.

Typical examples of Turbidity in NTUs (Nephelometric Turbidity Units) are shown below:

Governments set limits for the maximum permissible value of turbidity in water. Depending on where you are, these can be between 5 and 1 NTU. Aside from the poor visual appearance of water with high turbidity, it is very important to remove turbidity in order to sterilise the water using UV light, so it is free from any micro-biological issues such as bacteria, e-coli and so on. Turbidity water also typically has higher concentrations of heavy metals, VOC and toxic organic compounds and pesticides.
