"Water freedom" - Boat water filter systems
In the last two years, Osmio Water has been developing a system to enable owners of river or canal boats to pump water from the canal or river and treat it to potable water standards for perfect drinking water - our boat water filter system. But not just that, we have co-developed the system with pioneering canal boat and river boat owners and been through some trial and error to ensure the right specification of filters are used.

Why take water from the canal or river?

For any canal or river boat owner the answer is obvious. Filling the boats tank with fresh drinkable water is one of the main concerns when living on a boat. This is a huge limiting factor to where you can go as a boat owner and also where you can dock to refill your tank. Docking at a point where you can refill your tank can also be highly troublesome, a bit like finding a parking space in a busy shopping centre during the Christmas rush! The Osmio Boat Filter System gives the boat owner complete flexibility to travel and dock wherever they want to because they will never be stuck for water, and even have the capability to refill the tanks for other fellow boat owners.

Designing our boat water filter systems

We have to hand it to our first ever customer who suggested this to us! Brave does not do them justice. The customer has in the middle of restoring their narrow boat and wanted a system to filter the canal water. This was a great challenge for us and an experiment we couldn't turn down.We started by making some assumptions about the nature of the water which the customer would bee pumping from the canal. Obviously canal water is much worse quality than river water and contains a huge amount of sediment and turbidity.  We knew the water would also contain weil's disease, bacteria, micro-organisms, diesel fuel, and lots of other type of chemical pollution. We then set about to put together a system which would first start by removing thee suspended solids and sediments to make the water clear. After this we then put together a system to make the water free from any disease or bacteria, hydrocarbons and industrial chemicals. This in all made the water acceptable for non-drinking purposes. Finally to make the water drinkable, we used a reverse osmosis system which filters down to 0.0001 microns to ensue the purity of water for drinking and cooking:Once the system was installed, the next steep was to start it up and flush it for 30 minutes after which we take a sample of the water and have it tested by a local scientific services lab.Once the water passed he lab tests and complied with the UK water quality regulations the system is good to go.Total costs of the above system; £1086.00Total costs of lab test: £110.00Total annual maintenance cost: £250.00Find out about our boat water treatment system today and how you can be liberated on your boat!
