If you have a hardness level over 250 Calcium Carbonate then you may need to change the carbon block and membrane more frequently than every 6 months. The unit is designed to shut off if there is blockage in the membrane or prefilters. As the system recirculates the rejected water from the membrane, the TDS level continually rises of the water entering the membrane filter. Therefore, for those with water of higher TDS, more frequent carbon block and membrane changes are likely. It is recommended to have at least a spare carbon filter and membrane on hand with the unit at all times.

Filter Stages:

1 - Quick-Change Sediment Filter 5μm: removes coarse particles, e.g. Sand, rust, chlorine, lime
2 - Quick-Change activated carbon filter: removes chlorine and organic impurities
3 - Quick-Change Membrane 50GPD: removes all pollutants and flavours to almost 100%
4 - Quick-Change Insertion Filters: Hygiene After-filter antibacterial: removes 99% of the bacteria and viruses and improves the taste

How to recycle and dispose of Osmio Zero water filters

Quick-Change Carbon Block filter: This filter can be placed in plastics recycling. However, the bottom of the filter will first need to be cut open using a hacksaw. The carbon can then be removed and thrown into the bin before placing the filters in recycling.

Quick-Change membrane 50GPD filter: This can simply be placed into the plastics recycling.

Quick-Change Sediment filter: This can simply be placed into the plastics recycling.

Quick-Change Insertion filter: This filter should again be cut in half and the contents emptied out into the bin before recycling the plastic exterior.

How many liters are the filters good for? We have a family of four so would we need to replace the filters more often than 6 months?
Question by: Kamran on 31 May 2023, 10:31
Because water quality varies so much we can't really answer this question. If anything, you might need to change the Carbon Filter in this system more often if you have high consumption and very high chlorine levels, but everything else should be fine over at least 6 months.

Does the membrane filter come in the £55 filter replacement bundle if so which one is it?
Question by: Alkin on 6 Sep 2021, 18:04
Yes, the membrane is included in the replacement pack. It is one of the larger filters - it is labelled RO membrane.

I have a water softening system in the house. I’ve had the Osmio Zero for 6 months now and no lights have come on. Do I need to change any filters? Shall I wait until a light shows? The quality of the water hasn’t changed, it’s good.
Question by: Fabrizia Costa on 7 Jan 2021, 10:54
If you have a softener the filters are very unlikely to block up within 6 months. We recommend changing filters every 6 months. Filters become more toxic over time, especially carbon block - it is absorbing impurities. It is good practice to change filters every 6 months.
